Dr. Koryoe Anim-Wright was appointed President of the African University College of Communications (AUCC) on September 1, 2015. She served in an acting capacity from June to August 2015.
Dr. Anim-Wright is the immediate past Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Sam E. Jonah School of Business. As VP for Academic Affairs, she served as the University College chief academic officer, with responsibility for managing the schools and academic units, and the policies and practices that affect the academic life of the university college.
Earlier in 2013, she joined the AUCC family as Dean of the Business School. During her tenure, the School was renamed the Sam E. Jonah School of Business. Prior to her appointment at AUCC, she worked at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) where she served as Director of the Centre for Management Development before her appointment to the newly—created position of Director of Corporate Affairs and Institutional Advancement.
Prior to GIMPA, Dr. Anim-Wright served as Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Western Connecticut State University (WestConn), Danbury, CT (USA). As Vice President, Dr. Anim-Wright had overall responsibility for the stewardship of WestConn’s advancement programme, including oversight of the coordination, planning and management of the university’s fundraising/development, alumni, media, public relations, events, and publications and design functions. She also managed the Western Connecticut State University Foundation, Inc., where she was instrumental in helping the foundation increase its assets from $8 million to $16 million.
From 2003 to 2005, she was Director of University Relations where she advised senior management on formulating appropriate goals and policies on communications, media relations, marketing and promotional activities, as well as university branding. She also served as the university’s spokesperson. She joined WestConn in 1997 as Director of Public Relations.
Prior to her experience at WestConn, Dr. Anim-Wright served as Deputy Director of the Office of Sponsored Research, Contracts and Grants; and Associate Director, Office of Development and International Programs at Central State University (CSU), Wilberforce, Ohio (USA). While at CSU, she successfully wrote and served as the Principal Investigator of several grants from various organisations including USAID, the Small Business Administration and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. In 1990, she wrote and successfully received a grant award of $500,000 from USAID's University Development Linkages Project grant. The grant allowed for collaborative research and development projects in the Chemistry and Water Resources Management departments at CSU and the Chemistry and Engineering departments at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
Her consultancies include working with the Midwestern Universities Consortium for International (MUCIA), where she served on a 10-member team of American University researchers selected by MUCIA to conduct a feasibility study to establish a national university in Mali, West Africa.
In 1996, she led an educational investment mission to Ghana with the participation of five universities including Meharry Medical College, Miami University and Chicago State University.
She currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of MG Radio Limited and is also a member of the Ghana Institute of Languages Board. In 2015, she served as a member of the National Planning Committee responsible for the planning of the Africa Union Public Sector Day. She served on many boards in Danbury, CT (USA), including the Advisory Board of the Women’s Center of Greater Danbury; a Commissioner on the Board of City Center Danbury; Vice Chair of the Charles Ives Authority Board for the Performing Arts in Danbury; a member of the American Red Cross Board, Danbury Chapter; and a member of the Hord Foundation Board.
She earned a Ph.D. in Communication and Development from Union Institute & University in Cincinnati, Ohio (USA). She also has a BA in Communication: Radio/TV Production from Central State University, Wilberforce, Ohio (USA).
