The Power of Storytelling in Shaping Public Perception

Here, we are dealing with the idea of promoting an app through PR strategies.

What Is A Public Relations Campaign All About?

Public relations strategy plays a major role in any startup’s promotional strategies. It is similar to sales and advertising promotions. It is a kind of planned approach through which you can bring out your product and get the general mass aware of it.

Public Relations is all about how successfully you are able to manage your relationship with the public. It is about how you influence people’s opinions. This could be anyone- your prospects, customers, partners, followers, suppliers, journalists, investors, employees, and competitors.

The PR campaign includes different activities that are accordingly planned in advance and are associated with a specific goal. Before you run a PR campaign, keep three things clear in your mind. First, you need to identify an objective. Second, you need to find a solution that will help you achieve the goal. And lastly, validate that solution and see if it’s of any help to your target audience.

Although it is one of the most powerful tools, it might incur you expense. However, in a few cases, PR promotion is free of cost. PR has gained a significant reputation among the app marketers owing to its huge app marketing benefits.

5 PR Campaign Strategies For App Promotion

You might be thinking that running a PR campaign could cost you huge bucks. However, this is not true as you can even do the job with a limited budget too. With less budget, you can advertise your product. PR helps in promoting your business by raising awareness about your brand and bringing in more customers to your business.

Let’s check out some of the best PR campaign strategies:

1. Start With A General Plan

For starting a PR campaign, you need to jot down the entire plan. Take the help of the Google Spreadsheet. Here, you need to include a timeline, your expenses to purchase an account for online services, contact info of the editors, bloggers and journalists, and your goals.

By listing out your general plans, you can reach out to the influencers. Also, this spreadsheet would keep a track of all the prerequisites of your PR campaign and help you keep track of it.

2. Find The Best Media Platforms

After you have completed your spreadsheet document, look for the best media platforms. Re/Code, TechCrunch are some of the media outlets which you can connect with.

You can also reach out to other publications that are somewhat related to your app. So, start with collecting all the information about the media publication sites and note down their Linkedin and Twitter ID.

Connecting the bloggers and journalists through their personal profile is necessary because you cannot always rely on emails. Although email is an official channel for communication, this strategy often fails as a huge number of messages get marked as spam.

There are various online-based platforms, where you can connect with such people. GroupHigh, BlogDash and My Media Info are some of the online platforms where you can connect with editors, writers, and other media contacts.

3. Start Writing An Enticing Pitch

Gone are those days, when the app marketers used to draft boring emails for app promotion. People these days are highly creative when it is about promoting their app. So, your app launch campaign is only possible if you are ready with an enticing piece of pitch note.

Make a template for your pitch note and segregate it as per different individuals. For example, your pitch note to a blogger will be different from the ones which you will send to a journalist.

Ideally, your pitch note should include short introductory sentences of 2-3 lines that will introduce you to the app’s author. Also, it will include the reason why you’re approaching that particular individual.

Next, the pitch note should talk about your app (not more than 4-5 sentences). You can even add a demo video of your app in the middle. Lastly, add a conclusion that will include your contact details.

Following a specific format, makes a pitch note look appealing and people on the other side are able to decipher the motive of your mail.

4. Do A Followup

People who are in your media contact list are constantly occupied with their busy schedules. There are several other app marketers who might be asking them to promote their apps. You would be surprised to know that they get more than 300 emails per day from different organizations and other individual entrepreneurs.

Your message is also one of them. Therefore, always connect with people through a different medium. It is suggested that you follow your contacts up to 3 times at least. If you do not hear from them for more than a week, this means that they aren’t interested in your app. Or else they do not have time to respond.

5. Approach The Best App PR Agencies

After you are done with all the previous steps, approach the best PR agency or consultancies. ComboApp, Big Ideas Machine, Appency, Appular, Dimoso, are some of the popular PR agencies that can help you with your app promotion.

By choosing the right agency, you are likely to save more money and form a strong customer base for your app.

Concluding Thoughts

Practically, PR helps you in establishing your brand identity in a cost-effective way. While you are marketing your app, it is important to include public relations, as a part of your app’s growth strategy.

Business owners are now finding a solution by initiating the PR campaign for marketing their apps as it is actually helping them to reach their goal. Right from increasing your brand awareness to attracting new customers, PR is the ultimate marketing strategy for promoting your app.
