The Power of Storytelling in Shaping Public Perception

This expression of profound confidence announces the assumption of office of Mrs. Akua Brayie Owusu-Nartey, a consummate Marketer and Strategic Thinker, as the new Managing Director of Ogilvy and Mather Ghana Limited, an appointment which can be expected to take the country’s leading advertising and public relations company to the next level.

Over the past 12 years, she has been a Marketer, developing campaigns to promote products, services and ideas; a Strategic Thinker, peeling back the layers of consumer behaviour, motivations, what makes them tick and how to build brands; and in recent times a Business Leader, driving change, being responsible for an agency’s overall performance and revenue targets.

Akua is one of the versatile, skilled and accomplished experts in Ghana’s advertising industry. She has worked on multiple Nestle brands, Vodafone, Sab Miller, Guinness, Renault and UNICEF. Others include DHL, P&G, Total, Coke, Woodin and Fidelity Bank.

For Akua Owusu-Nartey, the appointment is a homecoming. She started her highly accomplished career in advertising at the then called MMRS Ogilvy and transitioned with the team to become Scanad Ghana.

In April 2012, her work attracted the attention of Publicis West Africa which consequently head-hunted her to be its Strategic Planner. In October of the following year she rose, yet again, to the position of the General Manager of Publicis Africa Group Ghana with ultimate responsibility for the running of the agency and the quality of its products and services.

She successfully restructured the entire business model and processes, including the setting up of a Digital capability within the Ghana business as well as meeting revenue targets.

Her new appointment at Ogilvy Ghana will see her spearhead the enhancement of the capabilities of an already outstanding agency and its staff, the expansion of its client base, growth in revenues and further improved marketing reputation.

“I am excited to be back at Ogilvy, I look forward to doing world class work with the team and nurturing a healthy profitable business.” she enthused upon assumption of duty.

Ogilvy Ghana Ltd is a total communications consultancy that offers professional services in Advertising, Strategic Planning, Public Relations, Media Planning and Buying as well as Digital capabilities. It is part of a world leader in the marketing communications, The WPP Group.

The Chairman of Ogilvy Ghana Limited, Gaddy Laryea, is thrilled to have Akua back, and this time leading the company’s entire operations, saying “Akua is the perfect fit for the Ogilvy top job in Ghana. Certainly, she is one of the rare pedigree of distinguished, experienced, well trained professional industry experts, destined to change the face of marketing communication in the 21st Century, here in Africa and beyond.”

Welcome back home to Ogilvy, Akua.
